AI: ethics into practice

Artificial Intelligence (AI) – technology that exhibits behaviours that appear intelligent and autonomous – is having a seismic effect on society. CBI research shows that AI is leading the charge for business investment and is set to impact most sectors by 2021, transforming the workplace as well.

AI will help tackle some of the biggest issues we face. But the changing world of work – indeed, a changing world – has led to new ethical challenges. From identifying job candidates to detecting financial fraud, AI is being used to make decisions about people that could be life-changing. Businesses are already taking a more ethical approach, but sometimes the conversation focuses more on principles than practice.
