Introducing the 2019 Regional policy priorities
An overview for members.
Regions continue to be an important part in shaping the CBI’s overall UK Prosperity Agenda. It is increasingly important all regions share in the UK’s prosperity and ensure no areas falls behind.
The CBI has recently bolstered it’s regional policy team and we have been working with members to develop regional priorities and deliverables for 2019. These serve as starting points as we shape local industrial strategies across England and strengthen regional stakeholder relationships.
All areas across England are due to have local industrial strategies agreed with government by early next year. The first expected to be launched after local government elections in May are the West Midlands and Greater Manchester combined authorities followed by the four local enterprise partnerships encompassing the Oxford-Cambridge Arc where we recently organised a member roundtable.
Local industrial strategies will set out long-term economic visions for places across England, and we’re working hard with combined authorities and local enterprise partnerships to ensure the business view is being considered.
The priorities and deliverables outlined are not exhaustive of the work we are undertaking, and we will continue to find opportunities to act on behalf of members.
We welcome your views, so please get in touch to discuss the plans or other business priorities in further detail with the relevant senior regional policy adviser.
