It’s been another busy month for the CBI, which I’m sure has been echoed by your own activities. On top of party conference season and a monumental ruling from the Supreme Court, we launched the 2019 London Business Survey report (LBS).
An annual pulse check on business sentiment in the capital, the 2019 edition of the LBS highlights key priorities and provides recommendations for both businesses and government. We will be taking several of these recommendations forward as we prepare for the 2020 London mayoral elections and promote these to policymakers in both Westminster and City Hall.
Top three findings from LBS 2019 Survey:
- 42% believe London remains “very attractive” to UK business leaders but only 29% believe this to be true for global leaders
- Crossrail 2 and upgrades/extensions to the Bakerloo line are firms’ top transport priority
- 77% believe financial education should be a core part of the national curriculum.
Thanks once again to our LBS partners Russell Reynolds Associates, Wilson Wright and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

CBI Business Manifesto
As I mentioned in last month’s update, we are now looking to collate member feedback in preparation for the 2020 London mayoral elections. Help shape our business manifesto by informing us of your policy priorities, what support you require from the Mayor of London and City Hall and the policy initiatives that you feel are working well and those that need reviewing.
