Seize the Moment is the CBI’s strategy for the UK economy. The Seize the Moment report identified six areas of opportunity for the UK economy, which together could be worth around £700bn.
Each month we feedback on the work each programme is doing, what it might mean for your business, and how you can get involved moving forward, feeding in your business’ views.

- The Online Safety Bill has returned to Parliament with a few key amendments. This includes the introduction of a ‘triple shield’ of online protection to give users control over their online experiences, so they can choose not to see particular online harms such as legal abuse, hatred, suicide content, self-harm and eating disorders. - The government has set out a new context-driven approach to AI regulation with cross-sector principles to be delivered through existing regulators. Email Caleb to feed into an upcoming CBI Policy Paper.

- The CBI is hosting a roundtable with Sarah Cardell, interim CEO of the CMA on 23 January. Email Ellen to register your interest. The discussion will focus on the recent work of the Digital Markets Unit and Digital Regulation Cooperation Forum and look at the role of the CMA in driving competitiveness and growth.

Boosting workforce health
Following a soft launch the week prior, the CBI launched the Work Health Index at the CBI annual conference 22. With Amanda Pritchard NHS England CEO officially announcing their support for the tool during the annual conference, we are pleased to bring the Index to market.
The Index supports organisations to benchmark themselves in a continuous process to improve employee health and wellbeing. It helps you;
- Gain insight into how your businesses health offer compares to those by sector, size, revenue and region
- Identify the strengths and weaknesses in your businesses current health offer and provides the tools to improve it further
- Monitor progress over time, making changes to stay ahead of consumer opinion and public policy changes.
