Charlie Courtney
Economic Policy Manager

Charlie Courtney is the CBI’s Economic Policy Manager. He is responsible for preparing the organisation’s representations ahead of fiscal events and leads engagement with HM Treasury. Charlie maintains a holistic view over the CBI’s policy positions, working closely with colleagues to translate policy ideas into robustly evidenced asks that influence government priorities. Maximising impact, Charlie works closely with the CBI’s microeconomics function, ensuring full impact analyses and costings are developed to support the organisation’s policy positions.
Prior to joining the CBI in 2025, Charlie worked as a senior consultant, delivering economic strategies and policy reports across a broad range of sectors – including local government, tech, and Higher Education. He also has extensive government experience, first working as an Assistant Economist in the Cabinet Office, before moving to senior policy roles within both the Department of Health and Social Care and the Ministry of Housing, Communities, and Local Government.
