Shaping an innovation nation
The Innovation team have been busy this month engaging with the government and various stakeholders to work towards delivering an operating environment that works for business and incentivises innovation:
- In the lead up to the autumn budget, pressing the government to act on existing commitments, including R&D funding and publishing the Digital strategy
- Shaping the government’s approach to AI governance with the Alan Turing institute and new AI Standards Hub; and engaging with the Technology Minister on digital regulation
- Meeting with Brian Holliday, new Co-Chair of Made Smarter Commission, on how the CBI and Made Smarter can work together
- Amplifying the CBI’s response to the House of Lord’s Science and Technology committee’s consultation on making the UK a science superpower to George Freeman (Science Minister).

Improving workforce health
The CBI is creating a Business Health Index designed to benchmark business’s occupational health offer in comparison to those within the same sector, business size, revenue, and regions across the industry. The Index will be a tool to showcase what good business-led health intervention looks like. And it will detail the benefits of a good health offer for both your employees and your business’ growth.
