The top 10 takeaways from the Employment Bill your business needs to know
On Thursday, 10 October, the Employment Bill was presented to Parliament. The Bill is the legislative vehicle through which the government is enacting its ‘Plan to Make Work Pay’ labour market reforms.
The CBI has been engaging with Labour on this package since it was first outlined in Opposition in 2021. Over this period, we have gained a unique perspective on the evolution of these reforms. The CBI believes the Bill marks a significant step forward in many areas and demonstrates the government’s willingness to listen to business concerns and incorporate feedback. It is however equally clear that critical issues remain that could, if not addressed during the Bill’s passage and in subsequent regulations, materially impact growth.
