Your business checklist for innovating to be more green

As part of the CBI’s Be More Green campaign, we spoke to a number of businesses who have embarked on innovation journeys to try and reduce their business’ emissions to reach their net zero ambitions. This checklist charts the steps businesses are taking when innovating to decarbonise, from diagnosing the problem to baking in an innovation culture.

1. Know your problem

Establish your business' starting point on emissions, capacity to innovate and internal buy in.

2. Map the landscape

Understand what the low-carbon technology landscape looks like for your business.

3. Build the business case

Identify and communicate the drivers and potential benefits of innovating to be more green.

4. Adopt tried and tested technologies

5. Explore new to world innovations

Research, develop and trial new products or processes

6. Measure, review, and report progress

Monitor the impact of your green innovation and return on investment
